For our next poll, I thought it would be interesting to see if Singaporean's favourite cuisine is indeed Singapore food or are Sinagaporeans really Cosmopolitan in character going for Japanese, Indian, Shanghainese, Korean, French or Italian cuisine?

Can't be help, still i think jap food is the best.
But, must specify that the jap food is best in where it is produced...aka Japan itself. The rice there is damn good(not the singaporean restaurants selling japanese food with substandard rice). Ramen is great in certain places(not singapore restaurants again).
Singapore food is boring..the hawkers all seem to sell the same thing. And some stuffs are really oily. And can tell that some hawkers are really lazy, can't be bothered to reinvent and anyhow cook, and some stuffs they cook require so little work..that you wonder if what you pay is worth the price. plus they charge so expensive for a slight raise in price for the materials.. not worth it.
Maybe I shld have been a Japanese instead.

What is defined as "Local Singaporean Food"? Eg, is Fried Kway Tiao a local dish or a Malaysian dish?
ReplyDeleteI think, anything that is commonly found in both Malaysia and Singapore can be considered Singapore local, wheras something that is predominantly Malaysian eg Penang Laksa or KL Hokkien Mee can be considered Malaysian. Difficult to define, but I don't think any Singaporean will be putting Malaysian cuisine as a fav, although I have a few Malaysian friends whom I am confident would

Japanese food in here is too expensive and food are not really Japanese tast.

for everyday eating i like local chinese food best but for the occasional meal, then Japanese. Would mind Japanese all the time either but less variety than local singaporean cuisine.

2) Japanese - healthiest path to glutonny without guilt!
