Sheng Seng Hokkien Mee: Baby Boomer HKM

With PK, Cold Storage, iwatch_ueat and smart

This is another famous stall here at Pek Kio. The reason I call it a Baby Boomer HKM is that my three Baby Boomer Makankakis all seem to like it whiles I found it pretty ok only. So maybe it has a vintage taste I did not pick up on. I don't know. Whatever the case, it still made it to the blog since there are people who find its taste endearing.

What is amazing about this plate of HKM is the fact that it is still only $2! OK for $2, you get quite a good plate of HKM.

Conclusion

My more matured Makankakis really liked it and I am sure there are other readers of the blog who are also fans of this HKM. 4/5

Baby Boombers are those born 1945 to 1960 (pls see ieat's blog. This HKM is not the best but is acceptable and maintain the price of $2/-. Tastewise a good HKM with generious ingredients thrown in.

With so many people eating out daily in Singapore, are there never any cases of food poisoning?

(unrelated to food poisoning) Today I had kopi for the first time and had an immediate reaction of sickness. I broke into a cold sweat and thought I was going to be sick. After a few minutes I was fine, though the kopi seemed to act as a good enema! Maybe I'm not used to the strength of this type of coffee?

The HKM is not too bad. One of the better ones I have tried. But my fav belongs to Nam Sing Fried Hokkien Mee located at the temp Old Kallang Airport Food Centre. Go try it - SHIOK is the word

I grew up eating this during those days when the father still ran the store in Farrer Park Hawker. The HKM used to taste so much better during those days when the father was cooking it. Now with the 2 stores in TPY and Pek Kio, I still like the Pek Kio one better, though it always seems to taste better packing it home rather than eating it on the spot.

mummum: it's at the lor 8 hawker and the store is on the 'outside' facing the road and flats.
