Long House Popiah: Good olde Popiah
Poh Piah is like the snack food that you buy to accompany your main meal right? I mean, does anyone here simply go out there and eat Poh Piah and that's it? Usually, we would order a few Poh Piahs as a common "share-share" type of dish.
I sometimes think about hawker dishes along the lines of Darwin's theory of Evolution. Hawkers that have been around for a while tend to have food that is pretty good. It is survival of the fittest after all. And the evolution of Poh Piah has really come to a standstill. There has not been much evolution in the Poh Piah since I was a kid. Does that mean that the Poh Piah is perfect and nothing else can make it better? There are some things like that you know. Like the paper clip. It works so well that nothing can be added to it to make it better. Do you think this applies to Poh Piah as well or can it be further improved?
Poh Piah $1 each
This Poh Piah is almost legendary so I am sure there are many fans out there. The skin is homemade, so it is nice and chewy, the ingredients are fresh and the crispy bits are really crispy. A good Poh Piah, but is this as good as it gets? Or can it be better? 4.25/5
Conclusion
Been searching for the ultimate Poh Piah since the beginning of the blog. Still looking for the 4.75 one.

well that's what i do when i go downstairs for dinner alone :)
just by the popiah itself lol
Ping Kee Poh Piah at Sembawang Hills Estate Hawker Centre is good. It's on Upper Thomson road where there's a lot of petrol kiosks.
i like the one at bishan at Ah Mei. the shop between ntuc and kim san leng coffeeshop.
Just a word of advise to readers who want to recommend your fav hawkers. If you really want to see your hawker on this blog, you'll have to be really confident about them, willing to give your pen name and stick out your neck for them. Tell us why they are so good, give an address and opening times. Even better if you attach their hp numbers! Otherwise, it is very difficult for me to decide to make a trip down to try them out!
I'd go for Ping Kee Poh Piah at Sembawang Hills Estate Hawker Centre too.
The fish slice soup, fishball noodles and wu xiang at the FC are classics too.
i have not tried old long house popiah but i have eaten the popiah at sembawang hills estate often enough to attest to its goodness.
Me and my gf are great fan of the old long house popiah.. this is definetly one of the best in town!
my vote goes to the one at Bukit Timah Market (next to the famous Soy Bean stall). I think it's called Ah Bee or something. Has lots of those crunchy brown stuff which isn't peanuts. yum :D
I have like the one at TPY (as reported), period.

Hallo! Look yummy! How much? Have a nice day!
All my colleagues and myself will travel to Toa Payoh Lor 7 for popiah 3 times a week. And sometimes, we do order their free home office DIY delivery. Among all popiah in Singapore that we have tried, we still stick to Old Long House... They were awarded Master of Popiah by Singaporeans and Makasutra.
How about Kway Guan Huat @ Joo Chiat Road? Their popiah skin and filling are all home made and it's pretty well known around those staying around there. Their address is No 95 Joo Chiat Road.
My take for popiah would be the one at Glory - Junction of Joo Chiat Rd and East Coast Rd.
The garlic paste got kick and the chilli is fiery!
The Joo Chiat one rocks big time lah! I am a huge popiah fan and after tasting all the popiah around, still find the Joo Chiat one unforgettable.
I had this popiah in the 1980s when it was being sold for 70cents. Grandma would buy for my younger brother and me on occasions when we go to the market with her.. brings back memories..
The crunchy stuff in the popiah is nice

I will recommend Ping Kee Popiah as well. I've been residing at Upper Thomson ever since birth, and dine at Sembawang Hill Hawker Centre every weekend there, and queuing for Ping Kee Popiah usually goes from 10-30 minutes, so I think their customer attests to the quality.
From the word of the stall owner, they are opened daily except for Friday, from 12pm to 7pm.
Their fillings is just exquisite, trust me, I frequent them for almost 10 years before I moved to Hillview, and never got tired of it, and they still taste as good as before.
Masterly, go try it. :)
Sembawang Hill Hawker Centre is located in Upper Thomson, what we used to call the 7th mile area, basically just the stretch where there's lots of petrol station.
tried last weekend, family members dont like it. Any better suggestion would like to try new stall with delivery service.
