Powershot Seminar: My photos on Today

I look forward to meeting with those of you who are coming this Saturday for the seminar! Make sure you pop over to say "Hi" after you got Thomas Ong's autograph! I just got informed that they got quite a nice goodie bag and refreshments are provided, so actually $10 is quite worth it. For those who haven't signed up yet, the details are here.

For those interested in buying the Canon SX200IS, my friends over at John 3:16 camerashop are offering a special package for ieat readers. All you need to do is to mention ieatishootipost and they will give you an extra Card Reader and Camera Case. Currently they are selling their Canon Powershot SX200IS for $640 with an 8GB SD card.

I have bought almost all of my equipment from John 3:16 starting with my very first Canon 500N film camera more than 10 years ago. I remember that Sam actually sat me down and taught me all about photography the day I bought my camera. Then off I went the next week to take pictures in the mountains of Nepal. I have photos to prove just how good a tutor he was. Anyway, I can vouch for their excellent pre-sales and after-sales service. They are one shop where you can go in, play with a few cameras and walk out without buying anything and they will still be nice about it. So, if you are looking to buy your next camera, do pop by John 3:16 and if they don't live up to what I say, let me know and I will personally go down to the shop and complain to Sam's father for you.

Ha Pong, you know in all my years of shopping there, I never really got a discount myself? But I just know that I get what I pay for and the extra service whenever anything go wrong is worth much more than any discount I can get elsewhere. In other words even if another place say in Sim Lim is selling at a $20 discount for the 450D, I rather still get mine at 3:16 because I can go back there to ask questions, fix stuff etc and I know that when I give them the money, I get all the stuff that is included in the box and that is peace of mind.

hi leslie,

Ive been thinking of getting a new canon camera and been wanting to get a point-and-shoot that is similar to SLR quality coz i love taking photos but prefer the size and well, cost, of digital cameras which will be good for travelling.

ive been thinking of getting the ixus100 or 870, but after seeing your post, i tend to trust you more, so in your honest opinion, which is better? and why?

by the way, IT show will be held in June, so if you guys can wait it out, then go for the IT show. :) Otherwise, John 3:16 sounds like a blessing! :)

Even though i bought only 2 camera related products from them, I can place my head on the chopping block with full faith and confidence, because John 3:16's staff are the epitome and pinnacle of excellent service. They take effort to know every customer, whether new or old who step into their premises, and they take time to explain to you whatever queries you might have, be it on their products or anything else about cameras.

The only complaint you might have, might be because business is so good, waiting time might be long...(I spent a long but enjoyable 3 hours in the shop listening to Samuel explain the different cameras, when my initial plan was just to go there to get a camera bag) But this just shows how service oriented Samuel and his team are.

My recommendation is to go like around 3 to 5 in the afternoon... Even then, there will be like 4 to 5 customers in the shop, while you see the rest of the camera shops in Funan relatively empty.

John 3:16 IMO, is THE camera shop of SG! Rock On!

Hi Serenemai,

If you want photos that are closer to DSLR quality then the Powershot series will be a better choice over IXUS because it gives you better control over your photos. It is a little bigger but its more fun if you want to experiment with some of the functions of a DSLR.

The SX200IS is great for its Zoom. But if you are serious, you might want to consider the G10 which is a great camera. If on the other hand, adventure is your thing and you want a camera that is like a G Shock watch, ie waterproof, shockproof, then you should check out the D10 which is also just released.

The best thing to do if you are not sure is to head down to John 3:16. The guys there will let you handle and compare the different models and you can make up your mind on which one you want to buy.

Hey Leslie,

The link to the pdf version of the article is broken. Mind fixing it?

Should have waited for this camera. I just bought a Panasonic last weekend.
