Fu Lin Tou Fu Yuen: Delightfully Deep Fried
I usually end up eating Yong Tau Foo when I feel that I want something that is reasonably tasty yet healthy. So the idea of a big bowl of soup with Toufu, vegetables and other stuff that has been blanched in water seems to me a good idea for healthy food. Of course, if you choose the deep fried stuff, then it is not so good. But soaking deep fried stuff in water first does remove some of the oil.
If you want something healthy, this is NOT the Yong Tau Foo to go for. They don't blanch their stuff in water, they actually deep fry everything before serving it in a Soy based minced pork sauce. So even the healthy stuff like fresh tofu and lady's finger gets deep fried in the oil.
But that is what makes this Yong Tau Foo so shiok! If you are the type that finds Yong Tau Foo a bit bland then this one will tingle your taste buds and change your mind! Although they don't use any pork in their filling, their Ngoh Hiang and wontans are all very savoury and yummy. Ah a Yong Tau Foo with oooomph! 4.5/5
The other thing that is unique about this YTF the thick beehoon that is served with a meat sauce made from Chicken Mince. According to the Alex, the stallowner, this style of Yong Tau Foo was first introduced by him 10 years ago. The stall had subsequently become so popular that they moved out of the corner coffeshop in Siglap to become a standalone restaurant.
Conclusion
For those who want some ooomph in their Yong Tau Foo!

have been eating there since they were a small stall at the corner coffee shop. but i feel that since they shifted to the standalone, the beehoon's standard has dropped. the minced meat sauce has dropped in standard.
i agree too.
also noticed that since last year, the pple running the stall (particularly the cook) have changed.
definitely not as yummy as before.
There's this store at Upper Thomson Rd think Ngee Fou that sells a very good yong tau fu ampang style with a thick sauce with light salted fish taste in it.
Yes, standard dropped. It was yummy until they shifted to the stand alone stall next door.
yea my parents used to dapao from the east coast stall since seven years ago, but the standard dropped and so did the purchasing lol. what a shame.
I just ate the YTF from Starleaf Paradise (the corner kopitiam next to Siglap Centre) for breakfast. And I din know that few doors down is the standalone, no? Always been eating from the kopitiam (which by the way, has good kway chap too)
Question:
Are they one and the same? I noticed it's a team of sisters manning the stall I bought from.
Anyway, the YFT is great, I prefer it best - deep fried and smeared with the meat gravy.
Juz tried dis on Sunday with a friend n U happened to blog abt it!! I tink tastes pretty gd n if it were better in e past, wah muz be heavenly. I prefer ytf dis way or e ampang style rather den e usual style which is to cook all e liao in a soup!

Haha i stay like 2 doors away ;)!
Well, been eating this ytf for a couple of years.. i would say eat long already also will sian..
This stall was from the corner coffeeshop and because their business was doing so well, they decided to move to the shophouse space. The funny part is that the next tenant of the coffeeshop stall sold exactly the same stuff as Fu Lin YTF, building on their reputation and claims that they are the original one.. Its probably gonna be like some Katong Laksa story again..
This yong tau hu is the best in singapore. their standards have improved alot. it used to be ok but recently, the crowds are so packed there is not enough seats!
their amoy st is packed during lunch and definitely no seat.
