Happy Chef: Not only Chef Happy, I also Happy
This stall is famous because its owners had just returned from a 15 year stay in Sydney where their restaurant was voted Sydney's top 10 by the Sydney Morning Herald. At that time, they were there because of their children's education. After they all graduated, the owners decided to migrate back to Singapore and started this western food stall selling interesting items like Chicken Kiev and Pork Cordon Bleu which are to Sydneysiders what Hokkien Mee is to Singaporeans!
The BBQ pork ribs are a real gem and great value at $6 per serving. You get a meaty portion of pork ribs, cooked till the meat can be just sucked off the bone and swimming in lovely tangy BBQ sauce. Save your calories for this one! The ribs are not the western cut ribs where most of the meat has been taken off the bone. You can see from the picture the substantial amout of meat still attached to the bone. The taste is closed to Tony Roma's although it does lack the charcoal grilled flavour. Shiokadoo! 4.25/5
This Chicken Kiev has been tweaked cater for the local taste as well as the $6 budget. It was good, but could have been better if mozarella had been used instead of Cheddar. Something different. The sauce was really nice and tasted quite Ang Moh (Western). 3.75/5
Conclusion
Another place to find restaurant style western food at hawker prices. They are also offering a T bone steak for $9 which is a really good deal. I might have to try that one day, but everytime I go back there, I would still be tempted just to go for the ribs!

actually chicken kiev quite easy to make leh... and the inside should be butter... his 1 more like cordon bleu ..
but is the meat tender? cos the 1 at secret recipe CMI in my opinion.. quite tough and don't even talk about juicy...
and... why all the "ho liao" in the east!! :(
Meat is tender. This one considered central, near Lavendar MRT
Hi Les,
Nice review. Should try his other dishes. The rib is good but extremely hearty. I don’t find the sirloin steak fantastic. I like his lamb chop better even tough I am not a big fans of lamb dishes.

Bro, know whats the most satisfying meal? Is to have two satisfying meal at the same time. Some months back, a friend & myself had a huge BCM follow by chicken chop right after that!
Hi Leslie,
Celebrated my 7th anniversary with my gf yesterday. Was actually browsing through your blog to plan my food plans for the day... Came across this place (was actually looking at the Bak Chor Mee), and well... To cut to the chase, we tried the recommendations you posted above, and it was simply AMAZING! We even bought the mushrooms to go with our meal, and were wondering if it was a mistake or not! The portions came HUGE! My goodness.. The 2 of us actually struggled to finish the meal, and in the end we left most of the fries on the plate...
To people who want to try this place, I strongly recommend you guys to do so. Don't hesitate, and just make your way down. My gf was astonished at the price of the food (the entire meal cost as much as a meal for 1 at Jack's place, and it was more than just filling.), the quality (my favourite restaurant - up to before yesterday - was actually Kenny Rogers. No more! It's since become Happy Chef because we were more than just Happy Customers)
Was there on sat evening (12/5) wanting to eat the famous Tai Hua BCM but they were closed. Feeling a little let down and was about turn away from the coffeeshop when I noticed there is still a strong crowd
presence even when the BCM stall is closed, being the curious (kaypo) guy that I am, I ventured inside to take a closer look. Low and behold, another western food stall!!??!! or just your run of the mill western food stall, with fries, baked beans n cole slaw?? Looking up the menu board, one immediately takes notice of all the wriitten articles and the pictures taken with Mediacorp artise, of course how not to have the die die must try rating fm makansutra.
1st impression that convince me is the condiments that they serve, rather than the usual cole slaw, cucumber/tomato, canned baked beans combination. They belong to league like those in Jack's Place, they serve blanched French Bean n sliced
carrots and of course french fries.
The portions served are HUGE! Really .. so people with small stomach be forewarned. They have quite an extensive menu to suit everyone taste, probably lacking is filet mignon (just joking). I chose their chicken chop with the special sauce (think is a combo of BBQ sauce and Worcestershire sauce) but the usual mushroom sauce looks more than usual cos the sauce is filled with a adundance of sliced buttom mushrooms. The chicken meat was tender and cooked like any other chicken chop BUT .. and I say BUT the special sauce takes the food to another level, defintely cannot find this sauce fm other western food stall. Feeling that I have found a GEM, I quickly sms ieatnitreat abt this gem I found only to receive a reply, its on the blog! rats, hats off to you doc!
Another minor detail, to make this kopitiam have a liitle more ang mor feel other than the western food, the drink stall also sells lemonade like in ang mor country. Well Happy Chef just made me a Happy Customer. : )
