Happy Wanton Noodles: Bukit Timah Food Centre Part 4 of 5
You know why the sign said Happy Wonton noodles? Cos when you see the noodles you get really happy. I have been looking for this type of dark sauce wonton noodles for a while now and this was really an unexpected find. Plus, there was a long queue of people even at 2pm in the afternoon!
The noodles were of excellent texture and very QQ! The Uncle told me they get them specially made by the same supplier for over 30 years!
Unfortunately the Uncle got carried away with the dark sauce that day when I told him how enthusiastic I was about the dark sauce. It turned out a little too salty for me. Otherwise the Char Siew was above average and it was really tasty. 4/5 I feel that I need to go back to give it one more go! Fortunately for me, this is a branch of the main stall which is the Carlton Restaurant along East Coast Road!

hey, in case you've been wondering who the anonymous poster is signing out as Aurora, well that'd be me. =D ehh, i just havent been blogging as much but i'll keep a look out for this space always! take care.
My experience was the opposite of ieat's. The uncle didn't put enough sauce in my noodles and it tasted a bit bland whom my colleague who was having the same noodle as me confirmed.
Ditto what ieat said about the char siew, it's above average and is quite tasty. Extra marks to the uncle for the extra step of blanching the noodles in cold water. Overall, not bad.
[The uncle didn't put enough sauce in my noodles and it tasted a bit bland] I must agree with you. 1st time i try this stall is when they just opened which is a few years back. The Char Siew not nice. And recently i saw your Blogger introducing about this stall, i decide to give the stall one more chance, so last month i go try again, the char siew still the same. only thing good is the soup.
We had this a few months back and we couldn't understand what the fuss was all about. Not worth the time and calories.
I'd prefer Mayflower at Bras Basah and the crispy wanton noodles at Sunshine Plaza.
went today (sunday afternoon 1+) but Happy was close, strange? end up eating the 'tip top' mix beef soup. nice :)
I'm a regular at bukit timah market since I live next to it. I've tried happy wanton noodles many times and I must say that the uncle is indeed too generous with the black sauce. whether it's a good or bad thing depends on your taste. I'm not one who enjoys sauces though, like things light; so I always make it a point to request for less sauce. but overall I've definitely tasted better wanton mee elsewhere.
