Mee Sua for those with Teeth!

If you were like me and thought that Mee Sua was only for the Elderly with no teeth, then prepare to have your paradigm shattered. Yep that's right, you are looking at a bowl of Mee Sua Tar Mai Ter Kua (Dry Mee Sua, hold the liver)

While other stalls may offer dry mee sua as a secondary item, this stall's specialty is the Dry Mee Sua.

This Mee Sua isn't the soft powdery type that I had come to expect of Mee Sua. It was actually quite firm to the bite and yet different from your normal Mee Kia (fine noodles) The Uncle told me that the Mee Sua was specially ordered from the factory. There is a definitely a skill involved in the preparation as I can still hardly believe that mee sua could be so QQ! (firm to the bite) The lard they used tastes very fresh and the chilli was very good. 4/5

The other thing that the stall does well is their handmade fish ball. Though, they don't make their fish balls on the premises, they did the next best thing, which is to specially order their fishball to be made by hand from the supplier. It was explained to me that handmade fishballs had a texture quite different from machine made ones. All I can say is that the fishballs were really bouncy and tastes good without a hint of fishy ordour. 4/5

Hi,
That's a high rating u gave to the mee sua! They used too much of 2 ingredients: vinegar and MSG. The smell and sourness of vinegar drowned the original bah chor taste. But the mee sua is very well done, just nice and not soggy - credits for that, only.

Just tried the mee sua for dinner...
I liked biting into mee sua together with the combi of minced meat, chilli, sourness and ikan billis......meatballs a bit tiny for my liking though....

ok, tried this dry mee suah and find it interesting coz it's a bit different from what my mummy and late daddy used to cook for me. u noe lah, always, in soup, soggy and very very lembek (very very soft). this is really without smell (coz most of the mee suah cooked, still with very smelly (like powdery smell lor). anyway, it all depends on individual.

Hi,

You could ask the uncle to hold the vinegar and not drink the soup like i do if MSG is not your cup of tea.

Dear Vince, if you never try or never like mee sua, the more u shud try it! I kinda like it, tho! The soggy ones are definitely out for me. Fishball is good (tho some people may find it ordinary). Anyway, I'm happy with it! Right D?

I went to try this mee suah, its great, though the skinny server was grumpy but the guy @ the stall was accomodating enough to give me extras and not include stuff which I disliked. The texture was great and something and thankfully the noodles was not swimming in oil like lots of bak chor mee in other places is. Thanks for the review coz this brought me to a new yummy place near work to enjoy during lunch.

I LOVE THIS BAK CHOR MEE!! and the skinny grumpy uncle remembers me now, haha! now he helps me put extra extra vinegar. guess it's good bak chor mee for those who like it vinegared. the soup got msg meh??

there's also a bak chor mee near al-amein, it's connected to the fei siong steamboat restaurant. there's a skinny tough-as-nails auntie cooking it late at night. my mother doesnt really like it, but i think the noodles are quite well done and springy which is what matters.
