Sheng Seng Hokkien Mee: Baby Boomer HKM
With PK, Cold Storage, iwatch_ueat and smart
This is another famous stall here at Pek Kio. The reason I call it a Baby Boomer HKM is that my three Baby Boomer Makankakis all seem to like it whiles I found it pretty ok only. So maybe it has a vintage taste I did not pick up on. I don't know. Whatever the case, it still made it to the blog since there are people who find its taste endearing.
What is amazing about this plate of HKM is the fact that it is still only $2! OK for $2, you get quite a good plate of HKM.
Conclusion
My more matured Makankakis really liked it and I am sure there are other readers of the blog who are also fans of this HKM. 4/5

Baby Boomber = they are borned in the year of the dragon??
Baby Boombers are those born 1945 to 1960 (pls see ieat's blog. This HKM is not the best but is acceptable and maintain the price of $2/-. Tastewise a good HKM with generious ingredients thrown in.
With so many people eating out daily in Singapore, are there never any cases of food poisoning?
(unrelated to food poisoning) Today I had kopi for the first time and had an immediate reaction of sickness. I broke into a cold sweat and thought I was going to be sick. After a few minutes I was fine, though the kopi seemed to act as a good enema! Maybe I'm not used to the strength of this type of coffee?
u mean u seldom drink coffee from local coffee shops?
ieat, did you try the coffee about 2 stores away from this HKM?? coffee so pa*ang, turned me into a coffe drinker after this 1st cup & my colleagues raves about it, too. Uncle who makes the coffee is another food nazi. :)
Sheng seng was from their father. u shld try the other stall op by his younger brother at toapayoh lor 8 hawker. from 730-1130pm only. cambridge stall is op by elder brother.

The HKM is not too bad. One of the better ones I have tried. But my fav belongs to Nam Sing Fried Hokkien Mee located at the temp Old Kallang Airport Food Centre. Go try it - SHIOK is the word

Oh coincidentally, I have also just written a review on Wah Kee Prawn at Cambridge after your recommendation. :)
which blk in toa payoh lor8?
if u have the chance you should really try the fried hokkien mee in ang mo kio. blk 409 market. eng ho prawn mee. 2.50 for a generous portion.
I grew up eating this during those days when the father still ran the store in Farrer Park Hawker. The HKM used to taste so much better during those days when the father was cooking it. Now with the 2 stores in TPY and Pek Kio, I still like the Pek Kio one better, though it always seems to taste better packing it home rather than eating it on the spot.
mummum: it's at the lor 8 hawker and the store is on the 'outside' facing the road and flats.
Hmm...it is the same uncle that was selling the mee in farrer park and now in pek kio...their father retired long long ago, after the new world hotel collasped....they used to sell in the coffeeshop in front of the hotel...
price increase to $2.50 =)
