Special Ramly Burger Party Update

With carnineviand, Tag and iwatch_ueat

ieat Special Ramly: $3.50.

Tak Boleh Tahan, went down to Ole Bubble Cafe again yesterday to have my Ramly Burger fix! I did not taste the improved version with Worchestershire sauce the last time so I wanted to make sure that the taste was right. Anyway based on all the feedback so far, most people found the burger quite shiok.

Made some adjustments to the brand of the curry powder used and also got them to toast the bun over the hot plate to get that buttery caramelized taste of the bun.

New improved Single Ramly with Egg and Cheese $3

My makankakis all agreed that this is the shiokest $3.50 burger in Singapore at the moment.
So, for all those who did not make it yesterday.........too bad. 4.5/5

ai yah... Should have tag along...

I was crazy enough to bring a Ramly burger back from JB to Singapore few years ago....

I think I MUST go for this very soon! To have my Ramly burger crave fixed! :P

Ya, sigh, I've also tarpao'd Ramly back to Singapore before. The pics look deadly fantastic! Now to get to Yishun without turning this into a S$33.50 burger (plus taxi costs! lol) or wearing myself out...

ieat, great idea on the doubly ramly. i think it's wonderful but also a bit ironic that you literally have to teach food sellers how to innovate. :P

Oh lord, I want to try that SO BAD. That's it; I'm either making one myself or hitting up google to see if there are any within 50 miles of Chicago.

What have you done to me, sir? What have you done?

ieat, so they changed a new brand of curry powder? hmm, alright i'll head down and try it out again.

Okay I know you have to compare apples to apples but I am curious, how would you describe the difference between this dbl ramly burger and other burgers like Astons or Wham burger? I understand Astons is probably in another league, but what would the comparable to Double Ramly be? Sorry trying ot gauge if I should make a trip to Yishun, from my extreme end of Singapore to get a taste of this.

ieat said...

For me the Ramly is more than just a burger. It is nostalgia. You may get as much satisfaction eating other burgers.

However, it is a very different tasting burger because of the spices and the chilli sauce. I guess the closest thing is the Rendang Burger from BK which was also quite shiok. So can't really compare it with any other burgers.

Is it beef?

Hi Sumosumo, Spore is a small Red Dot so better go Yishun than across the causeway right? Yah if u dont drive then it will be a bit harder. For me I am not a burger fan but I will surely be going some day.
Sorry this is NOT about the subject. There is a Thai fair at the Thai Embassy Orchard Road. Do try the thai food , tit bits, fruit etc. The Fair ends 1 July tmw.

liverpool, you're too much for $3.50 burger. Anyway, you may wanna suggest and add a little bit more cents lor.....

Aiyah sh*t, didn't see the comments. Oh well, I'll be going down to try it since its so near my home.

Btw, the Thai fair PLEASE go and try the mango salad at on the left hand side. The lady who makes it is handicapped on the left arm but her mango salad is the best I've ever eaten really power. She was also there at the last Thai fair.

I finally went all the way to Yishun from Jurong to try this yummy looking burger.

Ordered a double beef and double cheese for $3.50. It looks good. It looks big. And it looks drenched with sauces.

This is one burger which I cant fit into my mouth when fully opened. The beef is tender and the egg and double cheese makes it all the more sinful.

This is one beautiful cheap burger. My crazy friend took about 10 pictures before eating it.

They have beef, chicken, lamp, mutton (i think), fish and prawn burgers (sounds weird to me too).

The 2 Chinese male + female stall owners are friendly and helpful. Theres a Halal cert pasted on the wall by the side to see for muslim patrons.

Personally, I regret to feel that this doesnt taste/feel like one of those muslim cooked ramly burger. Have no doubt, this IS a good burger! Its just that I find the lacking of a ramly burger taste, thats all.

Perhaps this burger is too good to be a ramly burger. Perhaps the meat patty is too tender and well cooked to be compared to those JB harder and chewy patty. The cheese was generous and the egg was good.

Nice burger, cooked ramly style. But I wouldnt call it ramly burger.

Oh - the shop is closed on Sundays.

Cause I ate lamb burger not the beef(I don't take beef)

ieat said...

Actually I agree with what Ahber said about the meat pattie. I had thought about it when I first ate it and considered if asking them to change from NZ patties to Malaysian Patties would be a good idea to make it more authentic Ramly. In the end I thought that we want to bring Ramly Burgers a level higher by having better and juicier beef patties. Perhaps I can suggest to them to have stock of the Malaysian patty for those who want that rustic taste.

I went there for lunch on Saturday. Had the beef burger, cheese fries and a honey milk tea to go with it.

Seating space was cramped and as it was a humid afternoon, it got rather uncomfortable. The burger was good, but......still cannot beat those in Msia. Anyway, I'm not complaining. Beggars can't be choosers :-)

had the double beef patty for dinner yesterday. it was indeed superb!

You did not give this a rating, is it better than 4.25 that you previously gave? Did this burger make it to the REALLY MUST TRY List?

ieat said...

Thanks! I have tried it a few times after this post so I am quite comfortable giving it a 4.5. It is still in the must try list as it did not get beyond a 4.5.

Hmm..Ah ber..i would agree on u.. i think the best tasting Ramly still comes from M'sia. i..Anyway,I dunno if it's just me but whenever I buy burger from those m'sian guys..especially those mat rock kinds..the burgers seem to taste really gd..Even in Singapore, whenever I go to bazaar to have my Ramly fix, I'd normally choose the m'sian mat stalls rather than the local guys..haha..

PurpleCream said...

But I am still goinna try the abovementioned burger...BTW, the pics are really gd..
