Green Sky Dessert: The Disco Dancing Dessert Man!
As dusk sets in, the disco music starts up and Finding Nemo starts playing on the LCD screen in front of the stall. The audience start lining up as this Ice Kachang Man starts his nightly breakdancing routine. Oh yes, some stalls have got good food, some stalls have good service, but this stall has all the above plus entertainment at no extra charge.
Looking at the queue of people lining up behind him, I can see why this guy is dancing. It sort of reminds me of the dancing traffic policemen that direct traffic in Thailand. It is heartening to see that some people simply do enjoy their work!
So is this dessert stall really worth all the lights and music?
Being really full already, I only managed to try the Tau Suan which the man himself said was the best selling item in the stall.
And the Tau Suan was good! I especially liked the strong pandan fragrance of the soup and it was not overly thick and sweet. The mung beans were of the right texture and firm to the bite. Only one small complain that perhaps they could be just a little more generous with the mung beans. 4.25/5
Conclusion
It is just one of those stalls that you have to visit to catch the action for yourself. The Tau Suan was very good and judging from the queue, the other stuff should be quite good as well.

wah, I can't believe all these good food can be found in Redhill. Our office was there for several years until we moved out last year. I really should shoot myself for not eating any of those!
the ching teng is v. good..
OMG! I was hoping your 3rd entry would be about Redhill's famous Satay Bee Hoon since you were at Redhill.
But you didnt try it? Ohhhhh NOOOOOOoooooo!!! I would rate it higher than the one at East Coast Lagoon's!
I often go to Redhill to eat the green bean soup at this dessert stall, so it's nice to see it being featured on your blog. I also find the dancing man very entertaining.
Ok ok, Satay Bee Hoon. I get it. It just so happens that ieatMama is a BIG satay bee hoon fan, so I shall do my best to go there. Do they open for lunch or only at night?
erm.... damn.
I go there on irregular intervals. on lucky days, they'll be open. on suay days, they're closed or sold out. and i never took an effort to find out their timings. i've not been there for quite a few months either.
Could some nice fella living ard redhill/henderson/bukit merah/Queenstown verfity their timing pls? for our beloved food blogger, pretty pleaasseee?
-oh, they sell take home packets of dried versions of the satay sauce at $2 per packet. cheap for the amount packed. and it taste the same to me at home too!
OOH, when I'm in the area, I'd either eat from the Teochew porridge or the pig intestine stall. And dessert's always from this stall. Nice and cheap and can get entertained while waiting. hee.
had been eating the tau suan since i was a kid...the dessert stall opens only from 3pm till night time (around 10pm)...closed on Tues or Wed (cant remember)
for the satay bee hoon...they're open from lunch time. usually sold out by 8pm
