Your Absolute Favourite Max Ooomph Food Stall!

I receive emails almost everyday from people recommending places to eat. But I realize that it is such a waste that only I get to see the recommendation when it should be shared with everyone else.

So what I want to do in this particular blog is let everyone write in their Absolutely No. 1, 4.75 and above, if I were to die tomorrow, I will go eat at this food stall, kind of stall. Please include as much details as you can and let us know why it is your No.1 spot. The stalls that get the most mentions will of course get blogged one day. And our makankakis can also go try out the stalls and report if they are indeed so good!

Remember, just recommend ONE stall and please use a pen name!

Pepper Crabs at No Signboard along Geylang Road.

how about recommending ONE food centre instead of ONE stall. i have checked your list and found that redhill food centre is not included. i think this recently renovated food centre has a character of its own. it is bright and cheery and the sign boards are quite distinctive, not the usual ones that you find at other centres. there are quite a number of stalls that have won award/s at the centre too.

Pepper crabs at the junction of Still Road and Joo Chiat Road?(not too sure) coffeeshop - First Grade Seafood? It's usually crowded and the queue starts at 5pm.

taste is somewhat subjective. what i consider best may not be best to you; my 4.75 may be your 3.75.
anyway, there's this dish at teochew cuisine restaurant at blk 132 bt batok west ave 6 which you must try. the name of the dish is teochew imperial pot. it is so rich in ingredients and so full of flavour that i can order just that dish to go with my rice.

Though it is true that taste is subjective, but it is also true that the most famous stalls sell food that most people find good. One man's meat may be another man's poison but if I give 10 men poison they will probably all die.

Mei Ling Street Food Centre Ipoh Hor Fun, ask for the chicken feet, chicken, duck combo...chicken feet only available on weekends though as the daughter says dad is getting old and preparing the chicken feet is lots of work... :)....they unfortunately close at 2pm most days..

Seletar Hill Resturant!! You should really try their Camphor Tea Smoked Duck and the Szechuan Chilli Red Garoupa. Their desserts are really good as well. They specialise in Szechuan food and is located at 16 Jalan Selaseh.

Have been going there ever since I moved to Seletar and the food never fails to please me and my family. But then again, everyone have their own tastes so yea, maybe it's a 4.75 for me but a 4 for you.

I would probably choose the Hokkien restaurant Beng Hiang at Amoy Street.
I simply adore the roast chicken ($24 for the whole), black hokkien noodles ($7), fish maw soup ($30-40) & hay-zor($10-12)......it tastes shiok and really value for money......no 17% btw!! To die for.

Hello ieatishootipost,

Just a suggestion. Maybe we can email you the recommendations instead and you consolidate them into an entry? Thought that it looks abit messy leaving comments and some readers might not realise that the recommendations are in the comments.

Thanks
W

Eng Seng's Pepper Crab! No fight on this one.

The rude stallowner and sitting on the dirty tables/chairs besides the smelly longkang just add on to the 'ambience' :p

Ban Leong Wah Hoe at Casurina Road. Nothing beats this place when I need my crab fix. Besides crab, they've got great prawn paste chicken (har cheong kai, which, i've seen, people order by the hundreds!!), garlic steamed prawns in a scrumptious garlic paste, etc etc etc. Be prepared to wait more than an hour if you don't book a table on weekends. Bookings only applicable for groups of 10pax or more!

hi, perhaps you could check out this dim sum stall at Redhill hawker centre. I think its called Hong Kong dim sum, there's only a chinese signboard on a blue background. I'm not very sure of the english name. The cool thing is they only serve 6-7 items, which apparently are their specialties. Waiting time on a sunday morning is rather long.

My favourite chee chong fun is almost always freshly made by the uncle. i heard from a old couple i shared a table with once, that the uncle once worked in a the Four Seasons Hotel as the chief dim sum chef. Service is also efficient, especially on a sunday, when the whole family ( 2 sons and a daughter) comes down to help.

Give it a try. Don't think anything will go wrong. But better know your cantonese when you order! it will help! haha.

This one I will definitely check out since my kids love freshly made chee cheong fun. Do you know if they still have stuff during lunch time? Any idea the name of the stall or where it is located?

On the dim sum stall at Redhill Food Centre, i was there last sunday. i always make it a point to order some items from that stall when i am there...now matter how full i am after lunch or brunch

the stall is located at the second last section of the food centre (the front section is by the road). Not sure of the stall name but it is located next to the Hup Li Nasi Lemak and Bee Hoon stall (stall that sells breakfast items)

think they open till about 2pm.

yes, only a few items but its good. Love the Har Cheong and Har Gow :) $2.20 per "lung"
