The SGBlog Awards.....And the Winner is.....

Well guys, bad news, I am afraid that we did not manage to win the "Most Insightful Blog" Award.

But, as William Hung said, "I have done my best, I have no regrets!"

Just want to thank once again everyone who has voted for me and especially those of you who have religiously voted everyday. My biggest supporter is probably my Dad who at the age of 70 has been logging in everyday to vote! Thanks Pa!

Praise God who makes everything beautiful in His time! It might not be my turn this time, but I'll continue to put in my best effort to keep improving the blog so that we can do better the next time round!

To my regular makan kakis I have this to say: "Sorry guys, I had to cancel the reservation at Golden Peony." ;)

Hey Leslie, to us your blog is the runaway winner. I don't want to comment on the criteria "My Paper" used or how the panel derived the decision. I just want to tell you that we're all behind you 100%. Thanks for wonderful blog and friendship. Your effort and the success of the blog is evident to us all. Keep up the awesome work you are doing. The Golden Peony should be on us. : )

You have won ALL handsup by us. That was truly a wonderful and insightful foodblog and more than food reviews and good guides, we found fortuitous friendships that we could never have established.

Well the rule leaves the Judges 70% play but you got the most votes from the PEOPLE!

you're still the winner of the mass public~ :)

the impact your blog made on Singaporeans for food is greater than any food show/mag/article.

I even heard aunties say "there, i saw the doctor blog, then i come here lor" while queuing up at one of the stalls you recommended!

Those judges bak chew tah stamp...

To us, this blog has changed a great part of our lives...this competition does not prove anything...the fact that 8000 people hit this blog daily is a sign of how far this has come

Keep at it!

Award or no award, this blog has brought many foodies together; that is already the biggest prize one can ever achieve.

So can still dine at Golden Peony hor :)

Please do not feel disheartened!! The awards stuff is quite superficial. Lots of loopholes and cheats anyway.

I enjoy reading your blog a lot! I love your recommendations and have been visiting some of the places you recommended. Not doing much to my dieting plans but I certainly enjoy the food.

BTW, I never cease to be amaze the rate you update this blog, esp since you are a GP.

Really great work here! I look fwd to joining you and your friends in future field trips.

Wah! Golden Peony! I want to join in too.

In contests if there are winners, there would be losers. As long as we did our best and played fair, people and God have eyes to see.

You are already a winner in the hearts of your readers. Keep up the good work.

Long-time reader but first time I'm leaving a comment on the blog. Don't think there're many food blogs out there which can equal yours. Thanks for all the effort you're putting into the website, I can imagine how much work it must be! It's really appreciated by the thousands of people who read it everyday!

A mutual friend told me about the no. of hours Les puts in each day just for his passion and I was really touched. His blog has become my online hawker bible. :)

Just a suggestion...hmm...maybe Les you'd like to change your blog name to ishootieatipost. I think that sequence is more accurate lol. :)

Wow, I am deeply appreciative of all your comments! Thanks very much for your support. I have already gotten over it, no worries. This is not my first time losing a competition so it gets easier with experience. :)

I hope they re-align the blog awards to more meaningful categories next year. Food blog should be a category since there are so many around.

Food, what's not to like about it? Your blog will always be close to the heart (stomach?). So you may not have won the whatever awards but you certainly have won the loyalty of your readers! And yay for that!

Standing beside you and being as surprised as many on the night, I really felt for you when the result was announced.

But as they often say "The journey is more important than the destination".

Controversies are bound to surface in contests of this nature with the high level of subjectivity at play, but what matters is that you've done your William Hung best and undoubtedly reached even more Singaporeans in the process.

If it's of any comfort, I dare say that your blog exerts a far greater influence than all of the winners' combined.

ieat said...

You are too kind Ms Loi! Anyway it was nice to eventually meet you that night.

Hi Leslie,

A bit disppointed that you didn't get the award but you don't need the award to know how many people read and support your blog!! Such a useful and insightful FOOD BLOG in singapore! yeah!
