Soon Huat Pig's Organ Soup: Serangoon Way Food Centre
With Tag Tag, iwatch_ueat and carnineviand
This is one for the fans of Ter Huang Kiam Chye (lit. Pig innards with Salted Veg). I am no big fan of this dish myself. Just like first year Med School, Anatomy was not my most favourite subject. Ok, dissecting was fun, but memorising where all the nerves and blood vessels went for the exams was not!
But for those who enjoy being intimate with the innermost parts of the pig, this is a bowl of gastronomic joy.
The soup was power packed full of pig-protein precipitates. Bits of pork strands swirled around in the soup like snowflakes in a blizzard. The soup was too livery for me. For a guy who usually orders Mee Pok Tar Mai Ter Kua (Mee Pok dry but hold the liver please), I did not enjoy it. But my friends, Tag Tag and carnineviand were lapping it up. 4.25/5 (their rating)
Conclusion
I confess that I don't quite like it, but my friends and the long queue of people certainly do!

There, the first dish I had before the CKT =p
For a simple guy who is easily contented with life *hurhur*, my highlight was not so much the soup - potent, nevertheless - but the rice with the gravy =D
You'll be surprised how tasty such staple can be, but then again maybe it's because food tastes nicer when you're sharing it with your loved one =p LOL so maybe my take on the Newton CKT was biased after all, no?
I digress.
My most memorable Pig Organ's Soup has to be the one at Jalan Besar, off Lavender near the stadium. Forgot the name but it's a corner shop and it's rather popular - daresay any pig organ's soup lover would probably know of it...
Shiok esp with the black sauce chilli padi =) Fresh innards and hot piping soup is the key.
I can't figure out where Serangoon Way Food Centre is? Is it the Serangoon Garden market? Can someone point me in the right direction pls? Tks.
As you travel down Serangoon Garden way towards the intersection where Chomp Chomp is, just before you get there on the left hand side.
Anyone remembers the ter huang kiam chye at the coffeeshop next to borsch restaurant probably 15 over years ago? I miss those days when the innards and stuffs are in one big boiling basin and the man just scooped them out together with the soup when serving.
Hey doc got a question for ya. Is pork liver high in fat and cholesterol? Or is it higher in protein instead?
The Pig Organ Soup at Lavendar is along Jalan Besar just behind Lavendar foodcourt.
Think they in this business for more than 10 years and moved several times but always along Jalan Besar road. Most taxi drivers will know of this shop because they open until like 4-5am till the morning.
pickles Yes it is the serangoon gardens market. You will find the stall at the other side of the centre. can't miss it, next to the braised duck stall. BTW the braised duck also not bad (Std comparable to Xing Ji)
The pig organ soup at lavendar has a bright red signboard up infront, once you turn into Foch Road from Lavendar St before Eminent Plaza, you will see it.
