The Ieat 2nd Anniversary Charity Makan Session
A big thank you to everyone who supported our 2nd Anniversary Charity Makan Session which was held at Aston's new restaurant at The Cathay.
This year we are supporting the kids from Oakley Prison's Ministry. As you can see from the pictures, the kids really had a great day out. It really does warm the heart to see so many happy smiling faces!
I had the privilege of talking to this little girl who is looked after by her Grandma because her daddy is still awaiting release next year. Her mother had left her when she was still a baby, so Grandma is her sole caregiver. In order to keep things going, Grandma is still taking on oddjobs while she is at school. It was such a happy day for her as she seldom gets to eat out let alone watch a movie. It's all worth it if just for this one little girl, isn't it guys?
After the kids went off for their movie, our makan kakis were treated to a produce degustation courtesy of Greengrocer.com.sg. Boss Helene gave our kakis an introduction to gourmet produce from around the world. I think the only complaint that day was that there was too much to eat. (OK lah, that's better having to go for Hokkien Mee afterwards). By the time the ieatSuperburger MkII beta appeared, everyone was already so stuffed!
The auction went very well and everyone were in a charitable spirit. The biggest bid was $500 for the dinner for eight at Ya Kwang, by Nuffnang boss Ming. In all, we managed to raise another $8844 for the Oakley Prison's Ministry which will be used to buy other stuff that they need.
Praise God for bringing ieatishootipost to its 2nd year anniversary and for bringing so many kakis into our midst without whom the makan session would not be possible!
In particular I would like to thank:
Event Organizers: TauKwa who was in charge, Khim for registration and seating and Cactuskit for planning and photographing the session.
Our Volunteers: Cactuskitty, Smokedduck, Holydrummer, Holybro, Holybunny, Smart, Jems, liverpool, Champagne, sumosumo, toothangel and Amagada for helping out with all theother stuff.
Toothfairy and the Touch Soccer team for raising $1000 for the kid's goodie bags.
I would also like to thank our sponsors for making the event a great success!

Thks Les. It was a very meaningful event. Spoke to a few kids myself. They were all very happy and definitely enjoyed themselves. Their smiles make the work all worthwhile. : )
Anwar? hehe nice one ieat :), yup an enjoyable event for a meaningful cause!
At that particular angle you do look a little like Anwar don't you think?
By the way the bid for the Sicilian Cooking Class for 2 is actually from the filial son of Cowbehcowbu, moo... hahahaha
He is overseas but his hearts is with us.

I was glad to see that the children were enjoying. Definitely worth the effort.
Hello pals,
I enjoyed the whole session very much, for the first session could see the children enjoyed very much.
For the second session, must say a big thank you to Greengrocer and Aston, the food and wine were very good. Esp the Champagne, Burp...
Its been a great event...felt glad I could do my part for the kids...Really had so much to eat I was stuffed...personally enjoyed the wagyu, the blue cheese and the pork cheeks...Mark 2 was great...but could be improved further with regards to the bun
Nevertheless, Thank God, thank Aston, thank Leslie and everyone who made this event such a successful one!
ieat, okies this pic I didn't look fat. keke thanks!
ok I'll ask Anwar to shave his moustache and make a comparison hehe...
I'll take a good look at Anwar tomorrow. I'm meeting him at his cafe.
The real Jencooks did not show up but her sister and mum did and they enjoyed themselves very much. Thanks to ieat and volunteers for the tireless effort and the ministry to the children which spread some joy and smiles across their faces. Well done.
I am still trying to piece up who's who like Anwar, the long hair one right? and taukwa the "pai pai nen nen" one. Now I go looking for the rest, Liverpool, Cactus, Champagne, Khim, Jems. vwv etc...the two Holies are so recognisable, no worries. Where's cow*cow*faces?
Anwar can be seen making coffee at Nanyang Cafe everyday!
taukwa..."pai pai nen nen" !!??
*jit kong kong(lightning and thunder).......you made an adonis-styled entrance izzit ?
A good and meaningful event. With food, you can do a lots of good...
CowCow's face can be seen on the newspaper article. The one with the sleekest hairdo. ; )
Hi all,
I'm just moved by everybody's generosity not just with their time but $$ as well when it came to the auction...
Everyone's attitude was "what can I do to help", no qualms or quarrels. Also impressed with the staff at Ashtons who volunteered their time to serve us and the kids and their families.
Guys - thanks, it was a privilege to be able to do this event with you, whether as a fellow volunteer or participant (even in spirit!)
God Bless you all!
ps Jencooks: glad that your sis and mom enjoyed themselves. Hoping to see you in person one day..
Hi,
I like the website and the recommended food stalls, I've a concern, if the kids featured in the event are media-friendly. :) Keep up the good work!
Yes I understand your concern. I have asked Oakley if it was okay to post the pictures and they are alright with it. On a personal level the girl and grandma featured gave their consent to have their story told.
Thanks, thanks for the clarification! The pictures are very well taken and their smiles speak more than thousands words. :) Great job!
Hey Champagne!
glad you enjoyed the err.. champagne? :)
Thanks everyone for a wonderful afternoon.
Cheers!!
