AMK House Teochew Noodles: Round the Clock BCM

Ever been working hard till 3am in the morning and feeling hungry for a nice bowl of noodles? Well, in keeping with the mission statement of this blog "to provide 24 hour access to information that will help you satisfy that hunger or make you more hungry", I am proud to present for your consideration, this 24 hour Bak Chor Mee stall which is situated in the same coffeeshop as the famous Punggol Nasi Lemak.

Now this BCM is not bad, in fact it is quite good, though it does have a few shortcomings. I liked the Mee Kia which they use. It can either be called a flat mee kia or a narrow mee pok. Whatever it is, the texture is unique. It combines the bite of a mee kia with the slurpiness of a mee pok. The ingredients are fresh and the sauce for the noodles has got enough ooomph.

I was particularly impressed with the standard of the soup which was boiled long enough such that it was full of protein strands swirling around in it. The meat ball and fish ball is quite standard, nothing exceptional. BCM critiques may look upon this BCM like Simon Cowell and complain that it is not up to their standards, but for me it was good enough and at least it is a bowl of noodles I can get when the others are closed. 4/5

Conclusion

Round the clock BCM which is quite good. Mai Hiam Buay Pai (If you don't over critique it, it is actually not bad)

Oh I love the BCM here. Just the right hint of vinegar. And you're right, can get almost any time you want, especially on Thurs, when the nasi lemak stall is closed. - Esther.

Hmmm ... this BCM is near where I stay... its a "Decent" BCM..
but it depends on who does the BCM..

I have a occasion where i had an extremely spicy bowl of BCM (which I relished, and havent had the same amount of oomph since then)

That looks absolutely and sounds fantastic. You are very luck to have such a fine local noodle establishment. And open at 3.00am!!!

I always avoid such 24 hr stalls, the consistency is not there as the cook changes.

when i want to eat BCM at the wee hours, i head to chai chee BCM at east coast road. it's near my place and i like the consistency of the noodles + mix of vinegar & chilli used. if i tapao, i'd add some dark soya sauce at home. yummilicious!

hey doctor leslie, just wondering....let's say if i overate for 2 days, does it help to prevent weight gain if i eat lightly for the next few days to balance out my calorie intake? or is it already too late. how long does it take to convert excess calories to fat?

2 days is unlikely to cause major weight gain. But I would not advise binge eating and then starving as a good way to control weight. You should always try to have regular meals, but moderate the calories by choosing the right foods.

hey doc, i hope you'll have the opportunity to try this mee pok coffeeshop at simpang bedok.. it's directly opposite shop & save, known as lau lim mee pok. There is one that is right at the entrace to the carpark gantry but it isn't the right one. The good one is the one right inside. Do try it!

This stall is cloned from the Chai Chee BCM in AMK centre, the one in the KPT next to the post office. Why I know is because of the plump head chef, who used to be at AMK Chai Chee BCM. I guess he learned and copied, that's where the soup is reminiscent of CCBCM. Now the AMK CCBCM standard dropped so much and so much MSG, that if I feel like CCBCM, I go to this one near Kovan MRT. I think now the plump head chef is no longer there. That's explains the drop in quality of the soup recently, 1 month ago, that I tried.
