GODZILLA RETURNS! Now you can have your Pao and Eat it, but can you Finish it?

Fans of the Godzilla Da Pao can rejoice once again as their favourite "Social" Pao has found a new home at Elias Mall. If you remember, I called this a "Social" Pao because it is not meant to be eaten alone. This is a Pao that is meant to be brought back to the office to scare your colleagues! You will never fail to elicit some sort of response from unsuspecting friends and family when you whip out a Pao that is as big as your brain. (Ok, that depends on how big headed you are)

So you are probably wondering what happened to the Godzilla?

The concept of the Godzilla Da Pao was birth sometime back in September 2006, when I asked Mr Cheng to make a Super Big Pao like the ones I saw while driving along the highways in Malaysia. I then took a picture of the Pao and posted it on the forum for everyone to see. At the time, the Pao was made to order, so you have to ring up a day in advance. As word of the Super Big Pao circulated in cyberspace, the demand for the Pao became so good that they decided to put it on the menu. (It's the same thing that happened for the ieat SuperBurger)

Then tragedy struck! Just when their business was getting to the stage where they could take a day off every fortnight, the coffeeshop they operated out of was sold and the new owners demanded an increase in the rent that would make the business non-viable. An ominous fog had suddenly descended upon our Dim Sum Duo.

So for the next three months, Mr Cheng had been busy looking for another stall to rent while his wife took on a temporary job to keep the family going. Life in Singapore can be tough for small time hawkers like Mr and Mrs Cheng. They are constantly at the mercy of stallowners who would increase the rental rates unexpectedly. So do spare a thought next time before you begin to complain about the price of that bowl of Mee Pok. Some hawkers are working very hard just to pay off their landlords.

Anyway, the Godzilla Da Pao has found a new home in Pasir Ris and I am sure fans of the Pao are relieved that they can once again buy a Pao that is big enough to satisfy even a NSF (soldier) who has just finished a 20km road march. I was pleasantly surprised that they even chose to adopt the name "Godzilla" for their new stall!

For those who have yet to meet the Godzilla Da Pao face to face, it is not just an extra large Big Pau. Aside from the tender marinated pork, the Pao also packs extra goodies like lup cheong (Chinese Sausages), mushrooms, salted egg yolk, boiled eggs and sliced abalone inside. The pao skin has got that rustic homemade quality about it and is more substantial than delicate.

How big is the Godzilla Da Pao? Cup E Size says iwatch_ueat. $3.50

Conclusion

The Godzilla Da Pao is the kind of thing that you just have to experience at least once in your lifetime. This is one of my regular Pao shops. I wouldn't say that it is "die die must try" but it certainly has a quality about it that gets me back to the shop at least once every month.

The mega godzilla pao do look delicous indeed, am defintely heading there soon to try out their pao and other stuff, just to answer some earlier queries

Elias Road is somewhere in Pasir Ris, if you are driving from TPE towards Changi Airport, just exit at the elias road exit, if its fm the other side (TPE twds SLE), exit at exit 12b to pasir ris.

Cost of Godzilla Pao? Its $3.50 per pao based on previos posting. But hey, using $3.50 to freak your frens out = Priceless. Am I right or what ?? Hahaha

The fillings look good. Is the pao skin light and fluffy?

i'd luv pao very much but unfortunately there's none in the "PaRis" (a short form of Pasir Ris. glad they're here in PaRis. as there's nothing much in this area, hope the Godzilla Da Pao will make a big diff with lots and lots of happening.

cheers!
oh btw, Elias Mall is not very far from Pasir Ris Beach. you can actually see the building c/w wet market w/ample parking space (multi-storey & open space). they've given a 15mins grace period (FOC).

Yay!!!!! It's even more convenient for me to get the godzilla pau cos it's right where I live, in Pasir Ris. I was somewhat let down when my husband bought the so-called fake Godzilla from the newly renovated coffeeshop. Thanks, ieat.

A few people went down this morning and were dissappointed that the Godzilla was not ready yet. I have told Mr Cheng to prepare in advance for tomorrow morning!

Managed to visit them today. Still very good with lots of ingredients.Suggest you ask them to cut into quarters. It is easier to eat or share, unless you have a big mouth. I shared mine with my wife. Also you will know where the ingredients are.Beware there are 3 Food Courts in that small mall. They are in the FC next to Fisherman Village Rest.near the wet market.

They are still learning the trade. Told them many may come from afar like Jurong or Bt. Timah and will be disappointed if they cant have their G Pau. She told me Dr. Leslie also told her in the morning.
Good news: They are trying new pau made of chicken & sausage (not lup cheong). So look out for ieat's blog for more news.

Ha ha, I must be the most fortunate guy among all of you. I stayed just 2 blocks away from Elias Mall and I go to Elias Mall every day! Yesterday, I tried their big pau and it was one of the juiciest pao I've ever tasted. So I went there again today to eat the big pau. Very nice, but tummy still not satisfied, so bought a Godzilla Pau, 3 big pau and 2 tau sar pau home to eat together with my family. For loss of words to describe the Godzilla Pau, all I can say is that it is heavenly!! Even Godzilla would love to eat this pau. The stuffing is generous, and the ingredient mix seems to be the result of months of research and taste testing because each of the ingredient complements each other so well! It's fresh, juicy and so soft that you hardly need to chew more than 5 time to swallow the heavenly stuff. The skin is so sweet that eating it alone is pure enjoyment. I couldn't help but smile at my good fortune that they are now located in my own neighbourhood!

I will give the pau a 3.5 rating.
I drop by early easter morning, around 8.15am.
Personally feel the pau skin is soft and nice. Ingredient is generous, and not to mention the eye catching gigantic size. But I find the pork used in the pau, somehow like frozen pork, judging from the color. Which I find the taste is affected. Or maybe I happen to get the overnight one since they have not started making in the morning. As for the Siew Mai is 3. And the coffee Tau Sa is 3.5.

Went there on sat 29/09/07. Bought 4 GZ da pao (cold)and one normal da pao. The normal size was nice and juicy. The GZ? - I ate the next morn and also for dinner. The morning 2 - pastry was light and fluffy and meat seasoning was just right. But dinner-aidoh, the pastry was heavy and coarse and seasoning? I was jelak half way through.
BTW, the salted egg yolks went missing in all four.

First of all, you should not call people names. It is not nice.

Secondly, I don't know what agenda you have in writing this comment. I just called them and they are still there at the address I posted.

You should be ashamed of yourself for trying to destroy people's business.
