Katong (Tong Kee) Laksa: Lemak and Shiok! Bedok Interchange Part 6 of 7

With smart, holydrummer and iwatch_ueat

It used to be that Katong Laksa meant a specific shop in Katong serving a special laksa which you ate with a spoon. Nowadays, there are so many Katong Laksas around that it has come to mean a certain style of laksa which is meant to be eaten with just the spoon. And there are so many copies that you really don't know which one is good.

Well, we all say that this one in Bedok Interchange is really good. The gravy is full of that Hae Bee (dried shrimp) taste which I really liked and it is a tad less rich then the 328 Laksa which I frequent in Katong, which is good as you can enjoy the food without getting jerlak (indigestion). 4.25/5

I am apprehensive when I come across food stall claiming to be 'Katong' Laksa or Jalan Kayu Roti prata.etc. This stall easily beat some of the famous Katong Laksa stalls in Katong/East Coast Area.Their gravy is thick not too lemak (too much coconut milk)and lots more hay bee.

I guess it's personal preference again. This one got that nonya-style if I'm not wrong. They should promote themselves away from the Katong brand and establish their own name - like wat u said, 'Katong' makes us apprehensive - especially if they're not in Katong.

Personally I would prefer lotsa Laksa gravy. I always insist on more fyi. Unhealthy I know. But Shiok =p Ah, this one I don't mind having more gravy. Goodness mah.

Hey, just got to know of your blog thru another friend of mine.

It's absolutely great! I'm gonna be visiting your blog pretty often, especially when i'm running out of food ideas! :)

by the way, for laksa, you absolutely have to try Zhen Shan Mei Claypot Laksa. It's at Alexandra food centre at Bukit Merah, near Ikea.

The original stall used to be at one of the Depot Road coffeeshops, but it's closed down due to renovations.

But the Alexandra one is still as good!

Do try it - I'd like to know how you compare it to Katong Laksa. I personally waaaaay prefer it to Katong Laksa.

Is this the one that was featured on Channel 8 recently to help recover their failing business? Last heard the laska cannot make it leh and the renovated Stall was taken back because they were not following the chef's secret recipe.

huh? So originally they are supposed to be good then how come bad business? blur~

anyway the "Katong" laksa I like is the one at Holland Village. Lotsa Hae Bee and still spicy.

Loved to go together with the fried chicken wings from the nasi lemak stall next door~

Don't you know that after marriage the real "bad" habits come out? :)

During dating time, buy flowers, carry bag for you. After marriage Mr Romantic becomes Mr Pragmatic.
