Canon-Ieat Photography and Food Trail to Penang
Alright, so many people say Penang food is so good that we have to go find out for ourselves! So if you have always heard that Penang Char Kway Teow is so much better than Singapore's and want to experience it for yourself, do join us for our photography tour of Penang!
This tour will be of most interest to those who like to shoot and eat. It will be led by Jino Lee, Canon's professional photographer and Penang boy. Special arrangements have been made so that there will be photo opportunities which would otherwise elude the casual tourist. And of course, Food, Food, Food. I am looking forward to blogging some of the great eats in Penang as recommended by Jino as well as our resident Penang food expert, Damien.
For those who are toying with the idea of getting a DSLR, this might be a good opportunity for you to try before you buy. Canon will provide Canon 400Ds for readers who want to spend a few days trying out a DSLR! It would be a great opportunity to learn some basic photography techniques as well!

Do remember to try the Penang laksa n oyster omelet. Especially the latter which is so fresh that u can eat it everyday.
There is also this fresh water big head prawn which is not seen in SGP restaurant at Bali Hai restoran along gurney.
Hi Adrick, didn't know that you're a fan of penang food. Good stuff :)
Hi, I want to buy an SLR and i am stuck with Nikon D90 or Canon 40D or 50D. Which do you think is better in your opinion?
There are two large tribes of DSLR users. The Canonites, of which I am one, and the Nikonites, the other tribe. On the surface we are very cordial and there is much respect for each other's tribe. However, behind closed doors, when we have our tribal moolahs, we extol the greatness of our own brands.
So, since you are asking a loyal Canonite, I would say that your choice really is between a Canon 40D or 50D. Of course if your budget allows it just go for a 50D. The LCD is bigger and you get a 15 megapixel sensor. I was planning to upgrade from my 450D to a 50D because I wanted to shoot in low light conditions. However if you are on a tight budget the 40D is a pretty good buy at the moment as it is a solid camera.
With the introduction of the 5DMkII and having played with it in our last photo workshop, my plans of getting a 50D has since been shelved as I have set my sights firmly on the 5dMKII.
In the end your decision will depend on how you feel about camera when you hold it in your hand. The other important thing is how you will be learning to use the camera. So you need to choose which tribe you wish to belong to. The Canon tribe does organize many workshops and outings like this Penang trip for instance, so you are most welcome to join our tribe and come along for the outings!
ieat,
Penang Food is definitely good, with double thumb's up. Well, we're not bragging here but we believed the dishes themselves speak the results. There is a whole list of Penang Hawker Food to try depending on how your stomach can fit them during your stay here... But once you try them out, we're sure you'll come back for more.
Btw, since you're on Food Hunt in Penang, can we join as well? We may have more to recommend too since we're promoting our very own Penang Food :D
I don't have a Canon camera at this moment, but thinking of buying and upgrading to the 450 or the 500. Any advice on this matter is greatly welcome.
Can we Penang Food Blogger join in the Food Hunt. It would be very interesting for us hunting food in our own territory :)
Great to see both of my favourite Penang bloggers here :)

I love penang foods. Too bad school reopens already.
Hi Gracie, yes Canon will provide a 400D camera for you to shoot pictures for the trip. You just have to have your own SD card.
