Ice Cream Gallery: This is no Hum Drum Rum (n Raisins)

With holydrummer and iwatch_ueat

Thanks to the comments by Kare Kevil, I found myself standing outside this small outlet of The Ice Cream Gallery at Eastwood Centre. I must say that I really do like our very own homegrown ice creams more than the international brands. Their adventurous offerings never fails to bring novelty and delight to my palette.

We sampled a few of their flavours but decided that our two favourites were Rum & Raisins and D24 Durian (as were recommended by Kare Kevil). I will say that at this point in my life, this IS the BEST Rum & Raisins ice cream I have ever tasted! It even got a stamp of approval from our Professor of Rum and Raisinology (holydrummer) There was a generous amount of large juicy Drunken Raisins so Rummy that if you had 2 scoops, you might fail a random breath test! 4.5/5. The D24 Durian ice cream was also Fair Dinkum (Oz slang: No Bull! This is the real thing!). 4/5 But I have to say that I would still rather buy the real thing, chill it in the fridge and eat that! The advantage of Durian Ice Cream though, is that you enjoy the flavour without having the smell on your fingers all day and you can put it in the fridge without having to deodourise the fridge afterwards.

Conclusion

I think each of these Boutique Ice Cream Pallors has their own special flavours. Rum and Raisins is definitely Ice Cream Gallery's Cream of the Crop. By the way, you should try the combination of Rum and Raisins with Chocolate as suggested by holydrummer. Not good, VERY good!

Food for thought on the journey home:

Rum-n-raisin is an exclusive flavour-combination (realize it exists in ice-cream only and nothing else), ain't it not?

Unless there's such thing as a rum-n-raisin pudding, or whatever. =x

And, which genius actually came up with rum-n-raisin?!

Oh, by the way - it was BELGIAN chocolate somemore.

Heavenly bliss, I tell you.

if u're a rum and raisin lover , i bet you will love andersen's of denmark rum and raisin!
the rum is strong and the raisin is not too soft. blends well. (:

location: marina sq,suntec city, parkway, tanglin mall, jurong point mall.

there are several more outlets . go try it if you have the time yup! *cheers*

I personally feel andersen's of denmark RnR is a bit too strong of rum to fully appreciate the flavour. Furthermore i feel ice cream gallery's ice cream texture edges out a little.

Yes Rum and Raisin from Ice Cream Gallery is my all time favourite flavour there.

Rum and raisin is not "an exclusive flavour" as some people make fruitcakes by soaking raisins in rum instead of brandy.

I eat at the main branch Ice Cream Gallery often or buy back. I also like their green tea, black sesame and strawberry flavours but the flavour I buy most often is D24.

My favourite flavour from Ice Cream Gallery is the avocado. Very smooth and rich like avocado shake. mmmm....

Cool... I'm glad that you find them good too. My flavor to kill now is their Baileys Irish Cream. I guess I had the Rum & Raisins one way too many times within a short period in the past. Nevertheless, they are still good. Don't misunderstand me. Heh...

Ice cream gallery's lychee ice-cream and their soursop ice-cream rocks too! and they introduced this new flavour which is lime i think.. though you can't really taste much of the fruit(veg?) itself, but the sour taste hits you right there!!

Eh, i really like their gula melaka red bean flavour, but its not always available.

There is another outlet at River Valley Point. The rum & raisin is really good.

I also would like to recommend Fruitta La Viva. 2 branches. One at Novena Square 2 and one at One Fullerton.

Was just at River Valley Point today for the rum and raisin after visiting Butcher House for some sausages (Just across the road). Yep still like the rum and raisin, though I tried the Avocado and Gula Melaka which was strangely delightful.

Husband bought a tub home from the Eastwood branch...

Indeed, very smooth and creamy. He likes the consistency very much..

2 flavours bought:
1. Summer Berries: Husband bought this because they didn't have my favourite strawberry ice cream. No "shiok" factor as I kept thinking of strawberry which I fondly crave for.... But for those on a diet, this will taste healthy ( not sure whether really healthy) as it has that sourish-sweet yogurt taste to it!

2. Gula Melaka: At first sight, it didn't interest me as I was still thinking of my strawberry ice cream. :P But I tasted it anyway and it is yummy! I kept eating it and can't seem to get tired of it! :)

juz drop by e river valley branch n was somehow disappointed.. =(

they dun have avocado today, so i can't get to taste it.. however, did manage to try e gula melaka but it comes wif red bean.. not my cup of tea.. =(

when i went in, e smell of durian was too over-powering for me tat i had to pinch my nose thru-out e time i was inside.. (i'm totally not a durian fan..)

in e end, i ordered e lychee (which i like very much!) as well as e belgian choc.. belgian choc was a bit of a disappointment as i felt tat there is a bit of durian taste in my belgian choc (it's placed in e same storage as durian but it's on a different container)

if given a choice to choose between ice cream gallery n tom's, tom's will win me over hands down!

It has been quite some time since my last visit. I went on Friday night and I couldn’t help but got to have 2 rounds of triple scoops of Strawberry Cheesecake, Rum & Raisins and White Chocolate Pistachio (New Flavor). Yes, I repeated those flavors because they were excellent, particularly Rum & Raisins, and Strawberry Cheesecake… and White Chocolate Pistachio. Hee hee…

ice cream gallery is good. Their Rum and raisin and pistachio are excellent. However i noticed their prices have been increasing consistently and there's this Short auntie who can be quite rude. She is def a put off.

Asked her once how come they don't do ferrero roche flavour as i had that when they first opened. *loyal customer* since right haha but coz i stay nearby. She said NO we don't do that at all and i said yes i tried it here before she still insisted until she had to FINALLY concede grudgingly that she was perhaps not working there yet.

How rude!

There seems to be ice cream contamination issues at Ice Cream Gallery. The durian flavor is always tainting the rest of the flavors.

Les, if you like Rum & Raisin, I would urge you to try U.d.d.e.r.s. at Goldhill. 3 scoops of their Rum & Raisin is equivalent to one can tiger beer. It's the most potent (and expensive) among all, much more than Gallery's and anywhere else I've tried. The other flavors are Very Forgettable though, esp kopi-C. But maybe it's just me, coz nothing beats Tom's ice creams in terms of texture and flavor (not flavors).

Oooh that sounds good!

DISAPPOINTMENT ...
I have been eating their ice cream since the day they opened. In recent years i noticed a Drop in Standard namely the price has gone up by 50Cents but their ice cream scoop is so much smaller.

I asked the girl for a bigger scoop and told her the scoop was bigger before. Her reply was the cone is deeper. Their cone has never changed in width or size. Then the customer beside also commented that YAH it is INDEED much SMALLER than before.

Feel quite RIPPED OFF.
They shld buck up as there are others equally good icecreams around and no customers can tolerate a drop in standard

I went just the other day, and the scoop was rather big.

Honey Nut was good. :) I really like the walnut with honey.

Also they seemed to have new flavors.. I tried Yogurt with Cashew Nuts, which was really good!

I love it man, but I have to discipline myself from eating the ice cream in case my waistline expands..
