Yong He Eating House: Taiwanese Snacks 24 hours a Day
Feeling peckish in the middle of the night and not wanting to eat something too rich that would give you a glutton's hangover the next day? Well this might be the thing for you.
Situated in the middle of all the action at Geylang is this 24 hour place selling Tau Huay and You Char Kway. The Tau Hway may not be as smooth as Rochor Tau Hway over the other side of Geylang, but this stall does offer a few interesting and less common Taiwanese style snacks.
One is the the Omelette "Biskuit" which is a light pastry (like Pong Piah) cut open with egg omelette and pork floss in it. Not particularly die die must try, but light and satisfying when eaten together with Tau Huay. 3.5/5
Another is the You Char Kway with Pork Floss wrapped in Glutinous Rice. Some foods you can imagine the taste by what you see. This is one of them. Yes it tastes like You Char Kway and Pork Floss and Glutinous rice. Again light and satisfying. 3.5/5
Conclusion
More comfort food than shiok food. It is the sort of stuff you eat to feel comfortable in the tummy. This stall has been around for 20 years before the current wave of new Taiwanese eateries in Singapore offering street food and the menu is a bit of a hodge podge of Taiwanese and current favourites like Xiao Long Bao and Tea Eggs.

The food there is pretty good BUT I was treated extremely impolitely by one of the male staff there. Firstly, he attempted to chase us away by shoving the bill to us. Failing to do so, he walked off mumbling some words. When we were footing the bill, we didn't pay the correct amount and he said in a no-money-don't-eat-here tone "why did you give me so much??" (in mandarin). I was so pissed off that I actually flipped the chair and walked off. I VOW not to eat there ever again. GANGSTER-
As a half-taiwanese I think I have qualified privilege to comment that this stall is not very authentic.
By my standards Yong He would fail if they were claiming to sell authentic Taiwanese cuisine/snacks.
Comfort food? Perhaps. But not shiok.
To GANGSTER- :A stall's popularity could be its downfall.
Went to Yong He before just to have a taste of its Oyster Mee Sua instead of the Dou Jiang/You Tiao, haha. Anyway, the oyster mee sua was much of a disappointment, because I think Shi Lin's(located at Bishan basement1), was a lot better.
yong he suckss........ esp the service... went there everytime and got a lot of black faces from the staff. no one seem friendly at all - gangsterrsss
Does anyone know what happened to this stall? Passed it the other night with my family and realized it was closed. Was told it has been closed for sometime now.
They moved up the road. I think about Lor 15-20 or thereabouts. I passed by the other day forgot to take note. But it is along the main road, so if you start at the beginning of Geylang, you can't miss them.
After you go there, remember to pick up a card and let us know the address yeah?
The service leaves much to be desired.
Went there once with a friend and ordered some fried dumplings. When it came to us, the female helper shoved it on our table, and all the pieces came onto the table. She just picked up everything back into the plate in front of us with nary an apology, then walked again.
This was one of the few occasions that I almost lost my cool having food.
Their food is not even of a reasonable standard for me to consider tolerating a black face.
Lousy food. Even lousier service. There are many more outlets in Geylang that I can patronize for a much higher standard of food.

The stall have moved to Geylang Lor 17
Oops! It's Geylang Lor 27A
Before the ownership of the shop changed hands, the food was better. After 1991 the standard went downwards. I'm a longtime fan so I know. Sigh...
